The Yolo Flyway is a periodic publication of the Yolo Basin Foundation where members receive detailed reports on what is happening at the Yolo Wildlife Area. Regular features include Nature Notes, a teachers’ page and our calendar and description of upcoming events. The Yolo Flyway will keep you updated on this wonderful local resource. You’ll also get notice of our activities by email, if you’d like.
Field trips to the Yolo Wildlife Area led by local experts are held the second Saturday of every month. Participants at all levels of experience are welcome. Other field trips include spring visits to the Yolo Wildlife Area vernal pools, as well as the opportunity to view ducklings at the Conaway Ranch wetlands and the chance to observe the night fly-out of the Yolo Causeway bat colony.
Flyway Nights is a monthly lecture series featuring expert guest speakers on subjects of interest to our members. Topics presented in previous years include insects, amphibians, and reptiles of the Yolo Wildlife Area, rice farming and its benefits to wildlife, vernal pools, and Swainson’s hawks.
